Several times now, while going about life, my wife has been startled and exclaims, “what was that?” in response to this radio crashing into the bottom of the tub. Suction cup technology, if there is such a thing, must be pretty fundamental, but this product hasn’t mastered it. I find that a strange failing. Anyway the radio works better than other inexpensive shower radios I’ve had in the past. The selectivity is still touchy but you can separate signals if you take a little care and it hasn’t drifted off frequency. The speaker is tinny sounding as most small ones are, but clear even when set pretty loud. It seems quite sturdy, and it should be considering how miserable the suction cup is. All in all I like the controls, it’s toughness, the antenna, it’s ability to find signals and the clearness of the speaker. I just lay it down on something instead of using the suction cup.

  3. Hard to get a station in, but once you do it comes in pretty loud. small unit that stays on the tile wall of the shower pretty well.

This product probably wasn’t even worth the $20 I spent for it. The biggest issue is the suction cup, which only works on the most perfect surfaces, namely glass. The worst part is that you can’t even set it on a flat surface, such as a desk, without the need for the suction cup to hold it in place because it is so top heavy. If your surface isn’t perfectly smooth, the suction won’t stick, and the radio will just topple over.

The other issue is the battery compartment. There are two, tiny little screws that need to be removed to insert/change the batteries. My guess is that the average consumer does NOT have a screwdriver that small. I also laughed when the directions told me to make sure the batteries were in correctly (correct polarity), but the radio doesn’t have any markings as to which way the batteries go. I just had to do trial and error. Big deal? Not really, but it’s a common theme with this little radio: A good idea with some nice features, but someone didn’t spend enough time making this thing fully functional. I returned the radio after one day.

Good reception, good volume. Suction sticks great to glass, poorly to tile. Feel in the bathtub and kept working.

No word yet on battery life.
